MANILA (Dow Jones)--The Philippines Friday bought 454,000 metric tons of rice from Vietnam and Thailand, which could further boost export prices on prevailing tight supply. 
 
Contract prices were higher by around $70/ton from rice deals signed by the National Food Authority a month ago. 
 
Traders said fresh demand from the Philippines could further boost prices as Indonesia, Asia's largest rice importer, is expected to soon seek about 2 million tons of the grain.
